Don't miss this chance to enrich your holiday spirit and celebrate the wonders of Nordic holiday traditions! Nordic baking typically involves wheat flour and nuts, especially hazelnuts and almonds. Dietary accommodations for recipes made by participants during the program may be limited. Meals and snacks prepared by the Culinary Arts staff will be prepared in accordance to dietary restrictions that are indicated on your health forms at the time of your registration.

Winter is a beautiful time to experience Salolampi! From Friday evening to midday Monday, we have planned a weekend of Finnish crafts, music, outdoor games, interactive language classes for kids and adults, delicious food, and of course sauna. This weekend is perfect for families looking to learn more about Finnish culture, and create lasting memories in a stunning winter setting, complete with Finnish log cabins and a newly renovated grill hut on the trail between the cabins and the lakeshore sauna. Whether you're already familiar with Finnish culture and traditions or just beginning to explore them, there's something for everyone at Salolampi. Tervetuloa! (welcome) You will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Minnesota winter weather, so warm outdoor clothing is essential. Don’t forget cross-country skis or snowshoes, we have some great trails waiting for you. Family programs are designed for family units that include at least one adult (age 19 or older) and one child (age 18 or younger). Individual adults should register for our Adult Programs instead. Adult programs provide more and more intensive opportunities for language learning geared specifically towards adult learners. In an increasingly interconnected world, the ability to understand and navigate complex topics is becoming even more critical. This survey course is designed to expose undergraduate students to, and expand understanding of, a range of relevant global issues and competencies in order to better prepare them for a range of career options (business, public health, government or non-profit). Issues related to population growth and the movement of people, international trade and finance, energy use, environmental impact, the spread of disease and hunger, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence all require coordination and cooperation that transcend national borders. FORMAT: 25 hours of classroom instruction over the course of five days, plus approximately one hour of light reading/prep work per evening. WHO CAN ENROLL? Current undergraduate students in any major. There are no prerequisites.
