Open to all college students. Languages supported: Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Italian, Ojibwe, and Spanish. Participants can choose various language and cultural activities while enjoying our scenic setting on Turtle River Lake. All meals included, featuring global cuisines. Fun language and cultural activities or games throughout the day. Evening activities offered such as a campfire, karaoke, and late-night snacks. Advanced German students can join a book discussion led by Dr. Stewart-Gray from Oklahoma State University, focusing on "Natur und Menschennatur um 1800" (Nature and Human Nature around 1800). Students will explore German literary and philosophical texts in relation to gender, race, human nature, animal nature, and the citizen in response to US and French revolution. Overnight family weeks and weekends are a great way to spend time together, discover new international foods, play games, make crafts, enjoy music and take part in some old-fashioned outdoor fun. And while you’re all busy having such a good time, together you’ll experience the wonder of speaking a new language through our fun and natural immersion environment. Winter is a beautiful time to experience Concordia Language Villages! From Friday evening to midday Monday, we have planned a weekend of French and francophone crafts, music, family games, outdoor activities, delicious food and fun and interactive French language lessons suitable for all levels, from beginners to advanced speakers. This weekend program is perfect for families looking to learn more about French and francophone cultures, and create lasting memories in a stunning winter setting that includes cozy cabins along the shore of Turtle River Lake. Whether you're already familiar with francophone cultures and traditions or just beginning to explore them, there's something for everyone at Lac du Bois. Since you will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Minnesota winter weather, warm outdoor gear is essential. Don’t forget your cross-country skis or snowshoes, we have some great trails waiting for you.
