Plus, you'll get to do all the fun arts, crafts, games and cultural exploration of the Language Village camp experience, along with traditional summer camp activities like campfires, singing songs, and making new friends. These programs welcome language learners of all levels. In order to provide Spanish program options for as many villagers as possible, we will offer three additional Spanish one-week overnight sessions (starting June 29, July 6, and July 13) which will be housed in cabins at the Swedish Village site. This site is a 10-minute walk from the Spanish Village. These cabins will only include Spanish villagers. Meals and the majority of program activities during the day will take place at the Spanish Village alongside villagers in our two- and four- week programs. Villagers who register for these one-week programs should plan to be dropped off at the Swedish Village on their first day of camp in order to move into their cabins.

Villagers may have the option of hiking, biking or canoeing to these locations, in addition to taking our van. Villagers who canoe must pass a deep water swim test in order to participate. All in-Village safety protocols are followed on these trips. *accommodations/modifications to the itinerary will be made for individuals as we are able. Please request modifications in your health forms.

In addition to classes with formal language instruction, credit villagers can choose from a variety of elective activities, as well as classic summer camp favorites like campfires, singing songs, and more - all in the language of the Village. Each four-week session is divided by an interim weekend, during which villagers have the opportunity to call home, do their laundry, and take a break from the intensive activity of Village life. These programs welcome language learners of all levels. Fully accredited by Cognia, credit programs include standardized curriculums, assessments, and transcripts to meet your local school system’s requirements. Please check with your school district in advance to ensure that credit from Cognia will be accepted if you wish to have the credit reflected on your villager’s high school transcript.

The Mori no Ike Apprentice Program offers an opportunity for returning villagers to improve their Japanese language skills while also taking on special leadership responsibilities in the Village. Mori no Ike apprentices live with other Mori no Ike participants and join in village activities, but also contribute to the Mori no Ike community and develop a special skill at the same time, learning from master teachers and counselors. Participation in this program is subject to approval by the dean. Please apply with the google form linked below. You will be contacted to complete registration after your application is reviewed. Participants receive a certificate of apprenticeship with work hours included. Program cost $3,135, not eligible for scholarship.
