You will also earn one (1) college-level credit issued by Concordia College. Participants will build and enhance their language skills through small and large group learning activities, and by hearing and using the language - with the encouragement of our supportive staff - throughout their daily activities. By engaging in a variety of music, arts, sports and classic summer camp-type activities like campfires, singing songs, and more, students can increase their confidence and improve their language ability. These programs welcome Russian language learners of all levels! At Lesnoe Ozero, Лесное озеро, you’ll experience living in another language and participate in cultural activities from a variety of countries and cultures where Russian is widely spoken. These cultural activities combined with other methods of instruction will build your language skills in Russian. Imagine designing your own nesting matryoshka doll or Ukrainian pysanky (Easter egg); exploring music such as Tuvan throat-singing, Tchaikovsky and the three-stringed balalaika; or developing your culinary talents by cooking blini (crepe-style pancakes) or hachapuri (Georgian cheese bread). In addition, the North Woods setting is perfect for participants to hike beautiful trails near Turtle River Lake, join together for an evening campfire, or even visit the Headwaters of the Mississippi River located in Itasca State Park! FORMAT: Language instruction through a variety of immersive experiences and activities combined with classroom-type instruction. WHO CAN ENROLL? Current undergraduate students. All levels welcome.
