Join other college students for a week of immersion in Chinese at Concordia Language Villages, located in the beautiful North Woods of Minnesota where our site is set against the scenic Turtle River Lake in Bemidji, MN. You will also earn one (1) college-level credit issued by Concordia College. Participants will build and enhance their language skills through small and large group learning activities, and by hearing and using the language - with the encouragement of our supportive staff - throughout their daily activities. By engaging in a variety of music, arts, sports and classic summer camp-type activities like campfires, singing songs, and more, students can increase their confidence and improve their language ability. These programs welcome Chinese language learners of all levels! At Sēn Lín Hú 森林湖, our Chinese Language Village, you’ll learn Mandarin Chinese in a fun, supportive environment, led by native and expert speakers who will encourage you as you practice tàijíquán (Tai Chi), take part in cultural activities like the famous duānwǔjié (dragon boat festival) and explore your creative side with cultural art like shūfǎ (calligraphy) and làrǎn (batik). These cultural activities combined with other methods of instruction will build your language skills in Chinese. In addition, the North Woods setting is perfect for participants to hike beautiful trails near Turtle River Lake, join together for an evening campfire, or even visit the Headwaters of the Mississippi River located in Itasca State Park!
