We built the Lac du Bois site on Turtle River Lake near Bemidji, Minn., to make you feel as though you’ve magically happened upon a French village. In the comfortable cabins and facilities along the nature trails through the forest, villages are immersed in the beautiful North Woods of Minnesota. As unexpected as it is inviting, every detail of this Village — from the mailboxes to the street signs to the menus — are authentic to francophone countries.
In all aspects of Lac du Bois, from cultural activities to an authentic menu, we focus on the many diverse French-speaking cultures around the world and have staff from many francophone countries who share their traditions with us. You will find a welcoming, supportive environment at Lac du Bois - Bemidji where you will be encouraged to explore and try new things!
This summer: the French Language Villages are excited to again be offering virtual one-week sessions as well as residential programs.
The one-week sessions run Monday through Friday, with one hour of language level group activities in the morning (between 10 a.m. - noon Central) and one hour of cultural activity time in the afternoon (between 1 - 4 p.m.). In addition we provide one hour of asynchronous learning activities. The language level groups are arranged both by language levels and ages, with an average of five-eight villagers per group. Staff teams of two will lead the sessions and engage villagers in fun interaction through a variety of activities.
