Junior Counselor I
Special Note: Junior Counselors are not eligible to be hired by the French Voyageur program.
Qualifications
- Completion of junior year in high school or international equivalent
- Minimum age 16 (in addition to above qualification); maximum age 18
- 16-year-olds who have completed the sophomore year of high school are not eligible
- Completion of two years of language study or equivalent
- At least one year of Concordia Language Village experience, highly preferred (Preference is given to qualified candidates with at least one year as a Concordia Language Villages villager, but all qualified candidates are welcome to apply.)
- Exceptional personal maturity
- Broad knowledge of target culture and its activities
- Ability to enjoy living and working with children in a rustic, outdoor setting
- Highly Preferred - At least one year of Concordia Language Village experience. Preference is given to qualified candidates with at least one year as a Concordia Language Villages villager, but all qualified candidates are welcome to apply.
Responsibilities
- Work under direction of leadership staff member or other designated person
- Participate in designated areas of the program to develop counseling skills
- Participate in designated areas of the program to develop teaching skills
- Participate in special sessions and activities to support development of range of youth leadership skills, including counseling and teaching skills
- Assist with counseling duties, language instruction, development of evening programs and cultural presentations, and/or activities, as assigned
- Assist other staff members, including working in the kitchen, as assigned
Compensation
Starting at $145 for a one-week period, room and board.
Junior Counselor II
Special Note: Junior Counselors are not eligible to be hired by the French Voyageur program.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Junior Counselor I experience at Concordia Language Villages (and therefore meeting the qualifications for that position)
- Completion of senior year in high school or international equivalent
- Maximum age 18 (in addition to above qualifications)
Responsibilities
- Work under direction of leadership staff member or other designated person
- Participate in designated areas of the program to further develop counseling skills
- Participate in designated areas of the program to further develop teaching skills
- Participate in special sessions and activities to support development of range of peer leadership skills
- Assist with Youth Leadership Internship I program
- Assist with counseling duties, language instruction, development of evening programs and cultural presentations, and activities as assigned
- Assist other staff members, including working in the kitchen, as assigned
Compensation
Starting at $190 for a one-week period, room and board.
