Concordia Language Villages is excited to offer participants new opportunities to begin or continue their adventure in language and cultural learning! Villagers 18 and older can join us for one of our Adult Virtual Village sessions β beginning to advanced language learners welcome! Experience fun, interactive language learning and cultural activities β all from home. The four precepts of the CLVway will continue to be the backbone of the immersion experience. Virtual Village Adult Classes offer a real-time interactive small group setting for language and cultural learning for villagers 18 and older. These hands-on experiences follow a roadmap for either six or twelve weeks and take you on a journey to increased language proficiency. REAL-life language you can use. REAL culture you can enjoy. REAL people with whom you can share. We also provide you with asynchronous activities you can do at home to extend your learning.
All language levels welcome. Participant age ranges vary by each Virtual Village Class. Where possible, participants will be grouped by similar proficiency. Staff to villager ratio of 1:6, on average. Sessions meet twice per week for 60 minutes over Zoom; schedules are determined by each Virtual Village Class.
Virtual Village Conversations offer informal discussions about everyday life, current events or other topics of interest to you — all in the target language!
Sessions will be designated for various levels (low-intermediate, high-intermediate, advanced). Staff to villager ratio of 1:8, on average. Sessions meet once per week for 60 minutes over Zoom; schedules are determined by each Virtual Village.
Virtual Village Discussion Circles offer a conversation about specific and thematic reading assignments (short stories, novels, theology, philosophy, history etc.) — all in the target language! These circles are led by staff with subject matter expertise.
Discussion Circle topics may include articles from Der Spiegel or other short stories in the target language.
Sessions will be designated for various levels (low-intermediate, high-intermediate, advanced). Participants will be grouped by similar proficiency. Staff to villager ratio of 1:8, on average. Sessions meet once per week for 60 minutes over Zoom; schedules are determined by each Virtual Village.
Virtual Village Adult Weeks offers real-time, small-group interactive language and cultural learning for villagers ages 18 and older. These hands-on experiences meet daily Monday – Friday for culturally authentic activities and guided learning, including one-on-one conversation opportunities.
All language levels are welcome. Where possible, villagers will be grouped by similar proficiency. Staff to villager ratio of 1:6, on average. Sessions meet for three hours daily for a total of 15 hours of learning over Zoom; schedules are determined by each Virtual Village.
Similar to a Virtual Village Adult Week, a Virtual Village Adult Weekend offers real-time, small-group interactive language and cultural learning for villagers ages 18 and older, but in a truncated schedule. These hands-on experiences meet Friday and Saturday for culturally authentic activities and guided learning.
All language levels are welcome. Participants will be divided into two groups: intermediate-advanced or beginner-low intermediate. Course materials will be provided a few days before the start of the program.
