We're excited to offer Clubs this fall, for villagers ages 8-18, with REAL language, REAL culture and REAL people — all virtually! Join us for one hour a week for six weeks to experience a new aspect of the cultures where your language of choice is spoken. Try your hand at making an omelette in French, virtually visit a Swedish museum, learn the samba in Portuguese and so much more! Additional activities for villagers to complete at home will be provided to maximize the fun!

All language levels are welcome. Where possible, villagers will be grouped by similar proficiency level and age. Staff to villager ratio of 1:6, on average. Schedules are determined by each Virtual Village Club.

Classes

Virtual Village Classes offer a real-time interactive small group setting for language and cultural learning. These hands-on experiences follow a roadmap for six weeks and take villagers on a journey to increased language proficiency. Asynchronous activities for villagers to complete at home will be provided to extend learning.

All language levels are welcome. Villager age ranges vary by each Virtual Village Class — elementary age, middle school or high school age students. Where possible, villagers will be grouped by similar proficiency and age. Staff to villager ratio of 1:6 (grade school) or 1:7 (middle and high school), on average. Sessions meet twice per week for either 30 minutes (grade school) or 60 minutes (middle and high school) over Zoom; schedules are determined by each Virtual Village Class. High School Credit

Join us for our VIRTUAL academic year high school credit program!

How does it work?

The year-long, fall and spring semester options all follow the same schedule:

In the semester programs, students and their school will receive an official transcript for the semester that includes a grade for the semester, the grade components, a narrative evaluation, a course syllabi of content and their completed learning portfolio of the semester.

In the year-long option, students receive a mid-year grade and an official transcript at the end of the course with all of the above for your school to review. The program runs for 24 weeks, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5 hours of synchronous learning and approximately 2.5 asynchronous hours per week (independent work). *Tuesdays and Thursday evenings with 2.5 hours of live class time.

Who can participate?

The virtual, academic year high school credit program is offered for students in grades 9–12 in six languages: French, German, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian and Spanish. It offers at least 180 hours of instruction and is designed for learners at all proficiency levels — beginning to advanced. The high school credit programs are accredited by Cognia, enabling us to grant credit.
