Sjölunden’s Apprentice Program will help villagers learn Swedish while developing cultural competency as well as a community skill. Part of the time is spent in regular language learning groups, and the rest working on a community skill and developing cultural competency. Swedish apprentices live with regular Sjölunden participants and join in Villages activities, but also contribute to the community through their skill by learning from experienced staff in their field. This is a great learning and leadership opportunity all while joining in the fun and magic that is Sjölunden.
Participants receive a certificate of apprenticeship with work hours included in addition to reduced tuition. This program is for ages 16-18 with two years of Swedish or equivalent to show moderate fluency in spoken Swedish. Past experience at Sjölunden is recommended but not required. Acceptance is subject to the dean's approval.
