The Spanish High School Credit Abroad program is offered in partnership with Xperitas (, an educational travel company of distinction.

For two weeks, students participate fully in the High School Credit Program at El Lago del Bosque - Cass Lake. For the final two weeks, participants and teachers travel to Costa Rica for family stays and cultural excursions.

The Credit Abroad Programs are for students ages 16-18, by start date of the program, who have completed at least one year of high school
language study (preference given to two years or more).

Dominical Keep eyes peeled for wildlife, transfer to central Pacific Coast. Free time at beach before class

Organic garden and compost project, local school visit followed by a farm and sugar mill visit in Los Campesinos

Kayaking at Marino Ballena National Park, waterfall hike with a dip in the pool below
July 23
Begin family stay Transfer to your family stay community and enjoy meals and time with your host family.

Meals and time with your host family.
July 30
Bid farewell to your host family, transfer to Alajuela. Zip-lining through the forest canopy, explore the town of Sarchi, paint a small wheel of a carreta tipica at the ox-cart factory workshop.

Community tree planting project,  Irazú volcano and Cartago Basilica, followed by a wrap-up session

La Paz Waterfalls Gardens and lunch. Explore San Jose and the local market; visit the Jade Museum

Program Costs Include:

  • Tuition, including high school credit with transcript
  • Room and board, both in Minnesota and abroad
  • Travel from the Language Villages to Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP) airport
  • Round trip flights from MSP to destination
  • Travel within the country abroad
  • Excursions, cultural events and guided tours in the itinerary

Program Staff

Teachers are carefully selected and have strong backgrounds in teaching language and culture. Credit programs are directed and supervised by leaders with years of teaching experience, advanced degrees and Concordia Language Villages experience. Our programs have a 3:1 staff to villager ratio when traveling abroad.

Concordia Language Villages reserves the right to consolidate or cancel sessions that are below minimum enrollment levels.
