The Spanish High School Credit Abroad program is offered in partnership with Xperitas (, an educational travel company of distinction.

For two weeks, students participate fully in the High School Credit Program at El Lago del Bosque - Cass Lake. For the final two weeks, participants and teachers travel to Costa Rica for family stays and cultural excursions.

The Credit Abroad Programs are for students ages 16-18, by start date of the program, who have completed at least one year of high school
language study (preference given to two years or more).

July 9 Opening Day, El Lago del Bosque – Cass Lake, arrival 2-4:30 pm
July 21 Depart for Minneapolis-St. Paul for interim overnight, St. Catherine University.
           July 22           Depart for SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica. Transfer to hotel, Orientation with Certified Naturalist Guide. Hotel.
July 23 Transfer to DOMINICAL, central Pacific coast, for adventures: zip-lining, Manuel Antonio beach. Hotel.
July 24 DOMINICAL: school visit, Los Campesinos farm and mill visit, organic garden and compost project. Hotel.
July 25 DOMINICAL: kayak tour at Marino Ballena National Park, waterfall hike. Hotel.
July 26 - August 1
Begin family stay.  Transfer together to your family stay community, meal and time with host family.
August 2 Transfer to ALAJUELA, San José city walking tour. Hotel.
August 3 Visit the Irazu volcano, the Ujarraz ruins, and Basilica. Hotel.
August 4 Excursion to Sarchí and Oxcart factory workshop. Closing celebration. Hotel.
August 5 Transfer to San José, depart San José for Minneapolis-St. Paul.


Program Costs Include:

  • Tuition, including high school credit with transcript
  • Room and board, both in Minnesota and abroad
  • Travel from the Language Villages to Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP) airport
  • Round trip flights from MSP to destination
  • Travel within the country abroad
  • Excursions, cultural events and guided tours in the itinerary

Program Staff

Teachers are carefully selected and have strong backgrounds in teaching language and culture. Credit programs are directed and supervised by leaders with years of teaching experience, advanced degrees and Concordia Language Villages experience. Our programs have a 3:1 staff to villager ratio when traveling abroad.
