Four-Week High School Credit Program | Grades 9-12
Concordia Language Villages will require all participants eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine to be fully vaccinated prior to arrival at a residential session, effective September 1, 2021. Read our vaccine FAQ for more information.
The High School Credit immersion experience includes an academic challenge. Ultimately, we will prepare you to communicate with ease in the Finnish language while also learning about Finnish culture. Additionally, you will be learning to read and write in Finnish.
You will get to know your classmates and teacher well, since classes are small and you will be spending a few hours each day with this group. Individual projects of personal choice also help you develop your Finnish skills. Be ready for a fast-paced academic experience as well as making new friends, learning about Finnish culture and living in the outdoors!

Villagers in four-week high school credit-bearing sessions gain an academic year’s worth of language and culture skills through an immersion experience embedded in daily life, featuring a variety of cultural activities as well as formal study and assessment (minimum of 180 instructional hours; accredited by Cognia). Emphasis is on literacy and oracy. The program is open to all proficiency levels, so you don’t need to know any Finnish before coming!
Typical Day
Päiväohjelma (Daily Schedule)
Every day is different from the one before, but here’s something to give you an idea of what it’s like to be a Salolampilainen (Salolampi villager).
The Finnish fun starts the moment you say hyvää huomenta (good morning) and doesn’t stop until you leave the evening nuotio (campfire) and say hyvää yötä (good night) to your new friends.
Jokainen päivä on erilainen, mutta tästä saat kuvan minkälainen on normaali päivä Salolammella.
