Hackensack offers a classic American summer camp experience with a Francophone twist! Nestled between two majestic lakes in the Chippewa National Forest, this village provides an immersion experience in the natural world as well as in French language and Francophone cultures. The site enjoys an inclusive, intimate community, a lakeside wood-fired sauna, electricity-free sleeping cabins and special programs focusing on ecology and outdoor skills. With music, cuisine, games, sports, simulations and staff from around the French-speaking world, the classic camp experience meets an adventure abroad at Lac du Bois - Hackensack.
In order to keep the Lac du Bois experience fresh and exciting, we offer two specialty programs for returning villagers: Aventure Nature and Afrique! Afrique! will take you on a tour of French-speaking Africa, while Aventure Nature will help you explore the natural beauties of the north woods of Minnesota.
Both programs are open to two-week villagers (FH22 and FH42) with an intermediate to advanced level of French and some Lac du Bois experience; you can sign up during the opening day of your session.
