Amy Iida Tervola Hultberg is the dean of Salolampi and has been with Concordia Language Villages for over 20 years. Iida has previously been a villager, credit villager, counselor, business manager, credit facilitator and assistant dean at Salolampi.
Iida earned her B.A. from Concordia College, Moorhead, an M.A. in education from Hamline University, a K-12 administrative licensure from St. Mary’s University and a Ph.D. in education from Capella University.
Iida taught elementary school students in Detroit Lakes, Minn., for 18 years before shifting to her current work as an education consultant with Sourcewell. This is Iida's 23rd year on Concordia Language Villages staff and 9th year as dean of Salolampi.
Salolampi staff is hired every year to curate the best experience possible. Several staff members are former villagers who have come back as counselors and junior counselors. Counselors and teachers are also recruited from Finland, many of whom are college students who study the language.
