Rebeka Becka Fergusson-Lutz, the dean, is a high school English teacher at Escuela International Sampedrana in Honduras. She has a B.A. in English and art history from Boston University. At American University, Washington, D.C., she earned 7-12 English teaching certifications, an M.A.T. (Master of Arts in Teaching) with a concentration in English education, and an M.A. in international peace and conflict resolution. Becka has taught English, English as a Second/Foreign Language, social studies, and teaching methods to students of varied ages in a variety of settings and locations: Oman; Qatar; Washington, D.C.—public schools, charter public schools, university-level, and summer institutes; and Peace Corps in Romania. She founded and led a non-profit organization that advocated for gender equality and an end to gender-related violence in Romanian society.
