Credit Abroad Facilitator – French, German or Spanish

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent 
  • Skills in teaching the language 
  • Experience as a teacher in the U.S. school system, preferred
  • Strong personnel and program management skills 
  • Conversational and written proficiency in the target language 
  • Skills in cultural/recreational activity areas 
  • Work experience with high school students 
  • Computer skills 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents and schools

Responsibilities:

  • Implement educational curriculum of the four-week credit program
  • In consultation with the dean, make arrangements for pre-session planning
  • Coordinate & administrate credit program: schedule classes & activities, interface with two-week schedule, handle correspondence, administer evaluations 
  • Supervise placement of credit villagers at appropriate levels 
  • Ensure each villager has achieved minimum of 180 hours of instruction and has complied with AdvancEd guidelines on program quality and improvement
  • Ensure that all proper documentation of student performances required by Concordia Language Villages administration is collected and filed with the Concordia Language Villages office within three days of the credit session completion
  • Prepare final report 
  • Organize credit schedule during interim weekend 
  • Assist dean with on-site orientation and training of credit teacher staff
  • Assist with credit program and staff performance appraisals 
  • Collaborate with two-week facilitator to ensure integrated program 
  • Assume responsibility for counseling duties as designated by the dean, both in Minnesota and abroad. Duties may include supervision of villagers on buses, in flight, in hotels/hostels, in restaurants and on excursions
  • Supervise villagers during abroad portion of program, including, but not limited to, ground transportation, flights, meals, healthcare and communication with CLV administration and families; in conjunction with Xperitas, Concordia Language Villages’ partner in coordinating the abroad portion of this program
  • Function as key contact person during abroad portion of the abroad program in cases of emergency, in conjunction with Xperitas, Concordia Language Villages’ partner in coordinating the abroad portion of this program

Compensation:

Starting at $460 per one-week period, with room & board.
