GLAD MIDSOMMAR, SJÖLUNDEN!

We have a tradition midsommar morning to have breakfast served in our cabins.

The credit boys decided to have theirs at Fikstället.

Here is our special midsommar schedule.

Det finns mycket att göra inför Midsommarfirandet! Tjejerna från Skansen pyntar i matsalen.

There's a lot to do to prepare for Midsommar. The girls from Skansen decorate in the dining hall.

Elin räknar betyg, och Linda laddar in bilder till hemsidan.

Elin enters grades, while Linda uploads photos to the website.

Ååååå, vad fint!

So lovely!

Killarna tar ut sopan.

The guys take out the garbage.

Nils hjälper till med midsommarstången.

Nils helps out with the Midsommar pole.

Nisse är också med och klär midsommarstången.

Nisse helps out too.

Elli och Emy gör kransar.

Elli and Emy make rings for the midsommar pole.

Vad jobbigt med tråd!

Knots in the thread are no fun at all.

Lydia och Liv skulle ut och plocka blommor.

Lydia and Liv are on their way out the pick flowers.

Martin, Rasmus och Leif jobbar hårt.

Martin, Rasmus and Leif work hard to get the Midsommar pole ready.

Lite dans på dansbanan...

Some dancing on the dance pavilion...

Stig and Ulf are really excited about all the fun things happening today!
Gustava helps Otto with branches for the midsommarstång.
Rasmus, being from Sweden, is able to celebrate two midsommars this year.
The rings will be attached to the cross bar of the midsummarstång.
Jenny was in charge of flowers.
Here's how the rings are made.
Sebbe works on the branches.

Rasmus helps to get the cross bar in place.

Welcome, Rakel, to the credit program. What a perfect time to arrive!

Time for a rest before the next job!

Mikaela and Styr Björn are credit teachers from Sweden.
Mattias wonders if this crown might work for dressing up in fine clothes today.
Some impromptu language games were taking place while the midsommarstång was being finished.
Time to go back to the cabins to dress in our midsommar finest!

Here are the lovely flickor from Skansen, the new stuga.

Here is the credit boys cabin called Riksdagen.

Meet the boys who live in Ishotellet.

The boys from Nimis live here. Their counselor is Alf, but Evy and Johanne like to read them stories.

Here is the cabin for the youngest girls. They live in Ullevi.

Meet the girls from Globen.

Time to raise the midsommarstång! Vi är hungriga!

The fiddlers lead the way. . . .
followed by Kajsa and Magda . . .
. . . and everyone else!
This way, Sebbe!
Once we got to the soccer field, the music changes and the dancing begins.

This part of the dance simulates shuttles that are used for weaving.

And there we are--just about ready to raise the midsommarstång!
Glad midsommar!

O0000000!!!! Hej!

One of the most famous ringlekar is called "Små Grodorna." Kou-ack ack-ack!

And here it is! Midsommar 2008!

Är ni hungiga?

Magda does matpresentation idag!

Here is the 2008 smörgåsbordet!
Ledare får äter först! The counselors get to eat first.

Some of the ledare and villagers were wearing folk costumes.

Finally, the villagers get their chance!

Mattias gives the meal a thumbs up!
The ledare toast the cooks!
We took pictures outside of those wearing folk costumes.

Time for långfritid! That means the beach will be open! So will the butik, bank, och kiosk!

After långfritid, we had the annual volleyboll and brännboll matches.

Check out Svea's form!

and how about Ulf's swing in brännboll?

Look at the result below!

The credit villagers could elect to study or work on projects or just take it easy!

We had a picknik and then went down to the brasa to share our special stugsånger.

What a perfect midsommar!
