It's blå och gul dag!

It's blue and yellow day!

God morgon, Sjölunden.

Did you hear?

Everywhere today, there was a sea of yellow and blue (Sweden's national colors) because . . .

It's blå och gul dag!"

Emilia and Martin always have plenty of fun ideas for flag raising both in the morning and right before dinner.
At flagghissning, they had the entire village gather in a circle around the flagpole.
They're almost ready . . .
They did it!
Almost everyone in Riksdagen wore gul och blå kläder!
Dagmar and Britta did the honors of raising the flagga.
Mia, Linnea, and Johanna show off their gul och blå.

Just about the only one NOT in gul OR blå kläder was the moth Alf found!

Here's a close-up view of that little critter.

Teo's hat certainly came in handy today!

Zlatan,

a famous Swedish soccer star, even showed up at breakfast in gul och blå!

Besides Zlatan, Michaela, Astrid, and Liv kept us interested in the matpresentation.

Even Elli and Emilia were ready for gul och blå!

Check out the fingernails!

Hmmmm . . . whose feet are these?

It's Kajsa and Annika!

They wore a different gul och blå combination every meal today!

Here's how they looked at lunch!

Linda loves wearing gul och blå, too . . as do Barbro and Elli.

This is Globen--the younger credit girls! They had plenty of gul och blå!
Time to go to språkgrupp!
Michaela is EITHER planning her lessons for her credit villagers today OR what her group will do for the food presentation for lunch!

After breakfast the studenter (credit students) always gather for a quick meeting. This morning backrubs were abundant.

This morning Annika and Kajsa brought the credit students their portfolios.

Studenter study the portfolio requirements. The purpose of the portfolio project is to have a notebook to record their learning and which reflects their experience at Sjölunden this summer.

Dagmar cannot wait to get started!

The studenter are also working on a culture project.
Many studenter are working with partners. Dalmålning, a Swedish folk art, is the topic Saga and Jenny chose.
Kerstin is already busy clipping away.
Inga, Birgitta, and Janina are enjoying working together on the topic "Sports in Sweden."

The credit students are also taking some of their classes here just as Swedish students would do in Sweden.

For example, today Emy taught a class in choral musik--all på svenska, of course--just as she would in Sweden.

The ledare watching were in awe of how well the studenter did! Emy did not have to adopt any part of her lesson because our studenter were not native speakers!

Here's the new song that they learned today from Emy. It's called "Sol över oss."

Åsa, Michaela, and Evy get ready for their lunch presentation.
Today was the last day of this round of INTRESSE activities. Inga has been weaving all week.
Janina loves weaving (vävning)!
Mimmi did her vävning in shades of blue.
Cecilia and her brother Otto worked well together on a weaving.
Hanna och Lina show their weavings.

Nisse made a fågelholk (bird house).

Fia put her dalmålning on a coat hook.

Tina put dalmålning on a wooden spoon and on a leaf.

Mattias decided to give his dalmålning as a present.
Rakel put dalmålning on her name tag.

At flagghalning today, we had our Sjölunden version of the Olympics.

The event today was gymnastik. Two villagers represented each stuga and had 30 seconds to show a gymnastics "routine." Here is Sten from Riksdagen.
Our three judges were very impressed.
Next came Lillian from Skansen.
Again . . . quite an impressive performance!

But then came Cecilia! Wow! What a routine!

But it was Dagmar who scored an 11 from Styr Björn winning 1st place and a point for Skansen!

Look who came to flagghalning tonight! It's Pippi and Alice!
What a fun matpresentation!
And the food was pretty good, too!

Time for the DISCO!

A few girls who got to the disco early and who were out some of their intresse dances--like the cha cha!

The line dances were the most popular.

Edvin shows his moves!
Meet the DJ's! There's Evy, Mia, Linnea, Johanna, and Annika! All of these ledare were once credit students at Sjölunden!

We ended the evening in a circle and sang one of our favorite songs--"Så länge vi har varann" (As Long as We Have Each Other).

Check out the Stockholm City Newspaper at left.

It says, "Sjölunden rocks!" (thanks to Elli!)

Natti natti!
