What a great idea, Eva, to copy your real passport page and paste it into your Sjölunden pass!
Family and friends come to give Janina and Inga a great send-off to their credit experience.

Annika tycker om att undervisar svenska! Annika loves to teach Swedish!

Svea, her dad, and her uncle are about ready to go through customs.

Greta is back on staff this summer working as a Credit Teacher. We have 5 levels of Swedish taught by 5 native Swedes this year!

These sisters will be joined by a third sister at the village next week. Welcome, flickor!
Marianna, on staff this year for the first time, shows an example of the creative way a namnbricka could be painted.
Jenny and her mom arrive just in time to have a great afternoon to catch up with her friends from previous years at the village.
The kiosk and butik were open today so the villagers could browse and learn about how our stores work. Svea already looks happy to be here.
While we were enjoying our first day's orientation events, the kitchen staff was preparing a first night's meal of Swedish meatballs and mashed potatoes. Mums!
Time to take the flag down and get ready for that delicious meal!
Staff and credit villagers helped the new villagers with the text of the Swedish national anthem, "Du gamla, du fria."

We're off to MIDDAG in our matsal (dining room)!
Welcome to all the new and returning two week villagers! We have three boys cabins this year!
The credit girls catch up on what has happened in one another's lives since last summer.
Every day after MIDDAG we gather at the DANSBANA and have ALLSÅNG! Vilgot and Elli teach a funny Swedish song called "Munkar" ("Donuts!")

Liv and Magda play guitar while we sing!
Meet the flickor who live in Ullevi!

Barbro gets a new hairstyle!
Meet some of the credit flickor from Skansen!
The credit boys cabin is called Riksdagen.

For our kvällsprogram, we gathered at the brasa (campfire) and shared what famous places each cabin is named for this year. Our cabins are Ishotellet, Nimis, Ullevi, Globen, Riksdagen, Skansen.

Then we gathered in our family groups and found out who had been here the longest, who was new, who was youngest, who was oldest. Each group came forward to share what they had learned, introduced all family members, and then presented a cheer to reflect its family spirit! Our families are Bernadotte, Munsö, Kalmar, Sverker, Vasa, Stenkil.
We have a tradition that the villager who has been here longest rings in 2008 on a special klocka. We have 3 nine-year villagers this summer!

Welcome back, everyone!

Nostalgi!
