GLAD MIDSOMMAR!

Midsommar morning at Sjölunden!
The lake was so still . . .

. . . as we gathered for "andakt," a few moments of song and reflection to start off our glorious midsommar celebration!

Our midsommar tradition is to have breakfast in the stuga or outside close by. The boys from Nimis pick up their frukost.
God morgon, Globen!

Dags att hissa flaggan!

Time to raise the flag!

Time for a song, too.
Today's daily expression was "lagom," which means "good enough!"

Now it is time to jobba! jobba! jobba!

(work! work! work!)

Some stugor decorated the dining hall while some stugor picked flowers . . .

. . . while others gathered branches and worked tirelessly on decorating the midsommarstång or maypole.

At 1:30, the bell rang letting us know the work was finished, and it was time to get dressed for the celebration. Each stuga had a picture taken of them.

Here are the girls from Gröna Lund.

Here are the credit boys from Riksdagen.

Here are the flickor from Ullevi.

Here is the real Ullevi in Sweden:

Hej alla pojkar i Nimis!

Hej, Ishotellet!

Here are pictures from the real Ishotellet i in Sweden:

Alla fina credit-flickor som bor i Visby . . .

. . . och Globen!

Välkomna till våra gäster!

Welcome to our guests!

Now it's time to promenera to the fotbollsplan where we will raise the maypole!

The instruments are ready!

Here we go!

Lindas folkdräkt kommer från Dalarna och Katjas folkdräkt kommer från Småland.

Linda's folk costume comes from the province of Dalarna, and Katja's folk costume comes from Småland.

Vi är så hungriga! Off to the matsal for the awesome smörgåsbord awaiting us!

Magda presents the food today.

It is traditional here at Sjölunden that the ledare go first in line.

The villagers are getting restless . . .

Guess whose plate this is?
It's Rasmus from Sweden!
And this one?
It's our newest ledare, Astrid!
And this one?
It's Martin's!
It's Alf!
and Emilia!

Hurrah! The credit villagers get to go next!

Which student had this plate?
It's Mattias!
It's Dagmar!
Hej, Tyra!

Äntligen! Var så goda, två veckors deltagare!

Finally! The two week villagers get to join the line!

We had great entertainment during the smörgåsbord! Tack!

The credit pojkar from Riksdagen had their own idea of entertainment!

Wow! Yes! They stacked fyra mjölk kartonger!

Look what we had for dessert!

Tack to our head cook, Ragnar, and his staff for a wonderful midsommar meal!

Tack för maten!!!

Time to take some special pictures!

Our staff this summer . . .

our nine native Swedes . . .

Look at all the folk costumes!

During free times, Olympic results were available! The Olympic Games in Swedish is called Olympiska Spelen. Sweden has one silver medal!

Volleyboll was a popular activity!

So was brännboll!

What's the score Åsa?

Some opted to work on their portfolios . . .

. . . or chat or work on knitting . . .

. . . or seek new hairstyles!
That's my mentor!
Time for the midsommar picnic!

The evening was perfect for a walk down to the campfire (brasa). We end midsommar with a gathering around the brasa as each stuga shares its song.

We sang a welcome back song to Isak!
The night ended with Riksdagen's song "God natt, tjejer!"
