Dakar : Dakar is a large meeting place on the hill of La Francophonie. During the month-long session, Dakar acts as a salle de classe (classroom) for two classes of villagers who have come to Lac du Bois to receive a year’s worth of high school credit. However every villager knows Dakar for its feu de camp (campfire). Staff and villagers gather around the fire put in front of Dakar at the closing of the day for some calm discussion and evening songs. The feu de camp concludes with la dernière chanson (the last song) and as everyone sings, “Bonsoir, bonsoir…” (“good evening…”), the cabins are dismissed one by one to prepare for bed.
