Bienvenue to the web site of Lac du Bois, Hackensack. It is our pleasure to share our site with you and give you a glimpse of the Concordia Language Villages program at Lac du Bois Hackensack. Lac du Bois Hackensack has had a great impact on the Concordia Language Village French programs as the longest standing French village site. In addition, the site itself evokes an attachment to the past in its' pristine natural beauty, traditional architecture, and emphasis on simple, communal living in harmony with nature.

While certain aspects of the site are very simple (cabins and communal bathrooms), the emphasis has always been not on the physical lodging offered, but rather the building of community through 1) hands-on learning of French and Francophone cultures and 2) life in the out-of -doors. What has mattered most have not been the actual structures, but rather the people living, creating, and interacting in them. The lakes surrounding us provide inspiring views as well as an intimate feeling where everybody knows everybody.
