Day Two
July 15th, 2003

Angel's activity today is letter writing. Kids can write letters to either their family or friends here at camp. |
He's also teaching them how to make envelopes out of magazines. |
Julia leads the villagers to the cafeteria for lunch. |
Villagers are required to wash their hands before eating. A good way to judge how long to wash for is to sing "Happy Birthday." |
The state of Virginia watches a meal presentation. The meal is usually presented by the villagers, but for the first few days, staff takes the initiative. |
Patricia and Stella set the table before lunch. |
Mary is trying to reach the balls using only Caitlin's directions. |
Patricia and Angel display their dancing talent. |
The states of Texas and Alaska color a poster to decorate the hall walls. |
Tonight's evening program was called "Road Trip." Kids visited four stations; each station giving information about one of our four state groups. (At ELV, we live in States.) At the Virginia station, kids had a chance to speak with George Bush and ask him some very interesting questions. We found out that his favorite food is pizza and he has a private jet! |
| Angel's station was Massachusetts. Kids decorated and wrote poems about nature on paper leaves. |
At the Texas station, kids designed their own belt buckles and learned a cowboy dance. |
| Mary suits up at the Alaska station. Julia conducted a relay race that involved putting on silly dress clothes and then taking them off after a short run to tag one's teammate. Villagers really had a blast with this one. |
