Hometown, Europe invites you to join young people from across the World for an English language-learning experience like no other! Whether you are just starting to learn English or have studied the language for years, you will soon feel at home with our friendly staff and the picturesque landscape at the English Language Village in Ftan, Switzerland.

From the first songs and skits of the morning to the last “good night, sleep tight” of the evening, you’ll be learning English and having a great time! Gather in your school group (Brain Train) for focused language study; share the midday meal with staff and villagers of your Capitals (different mixture of origins and backgrounds); relax with a good book (in English, of course) before beginning the afternoon Simtown and the evening program.

Nametags

Why we have to wear the nametag? The usual answers for this question are “Because we canīt learn the name of everyone!”, “The counsellors must know our name”, “You can communicate easier”, or just “You have to!”…

Becky says that is a tradition of the Concordia Language Villages wear nametags, theyīre really functional at the beginning and they can also reflect your personality because the nametags are painted.

But some of us give really opposing answer. Cecilia (Fine Arts Council): “Because you donīt have to pay any Homey if you wear it!”. Stew, from the Chamber of Commerce, says: “The first days were useful for recognise the other people but now theyīre just useful for the City Council to get homey!!”.

Bob, the judge, replies: “Everyone wears the nametag, so the City Council donīt get so much money. In five days we only have one person that doesnīt wear his nametag, so we earn just two homey! And Nametags are very useful, for example I donīt know the name of everyone!!”

Itīs true: nametags are really helpful for everyone because the villagers are more than 100 and nobody can remember all the names!!
