Simtown

Simtown is our very own simulation of a real town.  In Simtown, villagers choose which branch they would like to work in for the two weeks by filling out a job application and having a job interview.  Just like in the real world, villagers earn "Homey" -- our own Hometown currency -- and can buy things with their wages.  Simtown is very language-intensive because villagers must speak under pressure, which aids in learning English.

Just like in an actual town, there is a government body to lead Simtown.  Villagers elect a mayor, treasurer, judge, and sheriff.  These positions make up the City Council branch of Simtown.

In the Council of Fine Arts, villagers make posters for other branches (especially during the City Council's campaign!).  Villagers in the Council of Fine Arts also make clay figurines and bracelets to sell for Homey.

The Chamber of Commerce branch of Simtown consists of Hometown entrepreneurs.  In this branch is where villagers can have businesses selling goods and services.  Some examples of our business this session are: waffles, sandwiches, cookies, pizza, back massages, and resting on mats.

The Parks and Rec branch of Simtown is responsible for planning recreation for Hometown.  Some of the activities Parks and Rec has planned this session are: a volleyball tournament, disco, and a movie night for our own Hometown films.

The Media branch of Simtown creates a newspaper and TV news for Hometown.  Villagers in Hometown Media work within a specific title in a webbed division of labor.
