Language Proficiency & Global Competency:
a STARTALK Program for Twin Cities Youth

Concordia Language Villages is pleased to provide Arabic, Chinese, Korean and Russian language opportunities FREE of charge to Minneapolis-St. Paul area youth ages 11-17 (at the time the program starts on June 20).

Villager learning Chinese at Sēn Lín Hú.

Join us in person June 20-July 1 (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.) on the University of Minnesota campus, then continue learning virtually July-December (two hours a week after school).

Small groups of participants, led by highly qualified instructors, will develop real-life skills in the language of choice (Arabic, Chinese, Korean or Russian), along with cultural activities and field trips in and around Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Villagers learning Korean outdoors.

To qualify, participants must be in grades 6-11 (ages 11-17), live within the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul metro and be at the Beginner-Intermediate level of their language of choice. The federally funded STARTALK grant, designed by major governmental agencies to increase language proficiency in languages deemed critical to the country's future, covers all tuition, fees, materials, lunch and two snacks per day; the only cost to participants is travel (bus, light rail, car parking)..

Participants are accepted on a rolling basis, pending application review and an interview.
