Nu har vi ledigt!

God morgon! We started out with two special celebrations today. It was Kajsas namnsdag . . .
. . . and Ulfs födelsedag! Grattis!
Last minute instructions for the parents program . . .
. . . and for the studenter on taking their midterms.
Jan tycker om bacon!

Magda reminds the villagers about the parents' program

before . . .

many, such as Malin, jump into the arms of their excited parents.
Malin säger, "Mamma, jag är så glad att jag kan tala svenska och hade det roligt på Sjölunden med
min syster Bella." This means: Mom, I am so glad I can speak Swedish and had so much fun at Sjölunden with my sister Bella.
Mamma understands how fun Sjölunden can be since she was a villager and on staff at Sjölunden in the 1980s at the same time our nurse, Syster Elisabet, was a villager. Världen är så liten! (The world is so small!)
Happy villagers . . .
. . . happy parents!!
"Hej!" säger Angela!
We all gathered around the flagpole for morgonsamling to start out the parents program. Ulvika performed their song first.
Next came Ishotellet . . .
then Nimis.
How fun for everyone to participate in morgonsamling!
Now, it's off the the dansbana for the rest of the program.

Our program began without the credit villagers, who were taking their midterms. We were a small group, but we sung with a lot of heart!
The ledare helped out, too!
Magda shared a lot about the vision of Sjölunden.

Magda honors our baker Ia for her fifth year at Concordia Language Villages.

Then we sang song after song . . .

. . . and even did a dance called"Gustafs skål."

Martin Graefe welcomed us on behalf of Concordia College and shared his personal experiences being the parent of a Swedish villager, Jens, who is getting his 5 year award this year!

Sander also received a 5 year villager award today! Grattis!
Now it was time to meet Pippi, Herr Nilson (the apa who lives with Pippi) . . .

and Villa Ville Kulla, Pippi's house!

"För där bor ju faktiskt jag!" säger Pippi!

Sånt är livet!

At the end of the program, we staff met so many supportive parents like Svea's pappa.

It was hard for Maja to say "hej då!" to girls in her stuga such as Bella and Malin.

For Linda, too.

After the program, the credit villagers and staff broke into spontaneous line dancing in Haga Park.

Vi tackar er alla för en fantastiskt rolig session!

Borta är bra men Sjölunden bäst.
