Dagliga Bilder 2008!

Onsdag den 13:e augusti

Check back often, as we add more pictures all day long

God morgon, Sjölunden!

Our matpresentation for frukost was presented by ABBA. The ledare made up a skit about how ABBA got started. Their inspiration came from eating our frukost foods today--musli, yoghurt, och frukt. Mums!

Meet Björn and Agneta and their soon-to-be manager.
Here is the other A and B of ABBA--Annifrid and Benny!
Our daily expression today was "Håll tummarna," which literally means "Hold your thumbs!" The translation is the same as our English "cross your fingers" or "good luck!"
Welcome, Sigge!
For Vår Värld each day we do an environmental activitiy. Here is Alf's group learning about various animals.

For Gott och Blandat today, we divided into two groups. Each group made 11 questions for the other group. We hung them on trees to make a trail of questions. The groups took a walk in the woods and tried to answer each question. This is called a Tipspromenad.
Do you know the answer to question 6? What is the name of Sweden's queen?
The answer is Silvia, spelled with an "i," not a "y."

On our tipspromenad, we went around to the new boathouse and had a look at the beautiful new flagpole! Tack to the Mullenbach family!

Here is the entrance to the sailing beach.
We're almost to the last question . . .
We did it! We're off to language class (språkgrupp).

We visited each of the credit classrooms today to take a pictures of each group. Here is Emy's grupp!

Greta and her grupp

Greta's group of studenter has fem fina flickor!

Styr-Björn and his group

Mikaela's group gives her a thumbs up!

All five credit classes are taught by Swedes!

Emilia's class learned about word order today. They got little slips of words which needed to be put in the right order on the clothes line. What a cool idea!
Svenne was very helpful!

Here's how Liv's group worked on the slips.

During kort and långfritid (free times), you can always see villagers playing four-square.

Let's check out some of the INTRESSE activities that take place in mid-afternoon.

This is dalmålning, a Swedish folk art which requires meticulous attention to detail. Those doing dalmålning have practiced for a few days and are now ready to try their skills on the item they have chosen.

In the weaving studio, there is plenty of excitement!

Hej, Kajsa och Elin. Kajsa is our assistant Dean, and Elin is our Credit Facilitator.

Here's our Sjölunden family tree!

In Emy's group, they filled a tree with all the new words they learned the first week of class.

One of the favorite places to gather is Fikastället. "Att fika" means to have a snack.

Tonight is Restaurant Night. All the villagers had to call in their reservations (på svenska förstås) ahead of time.

After aftonsamling, there was time to change to nice clothes for the restaurant.

This session we had a Greek restaurant was called Stjärnorna Över Aten. (Stars Over Athens) Magda was our host.

We had a special place to order drinks. It was called Min Stortjock Grekisk Bar.

Here's what you could order at the bar.

Some of our guests relax before their reservations.

Time for my reservaton! Det är dags att äta!

The appetizer was delicious--paprika med fetost (red peppers with feta cheese)!

Här kommer entree--grekisk kebab pita med basilika, tomat, och tzatziki sås! MUMS!

Here comes the entree--Greek pita with basil, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce. YUM!

Vilgot even provided serenades to the tables.

A look behind the scenes at our Greek restaurang! Don't those cooks look a bit like ledare at Sjölunden?
. . . and doesn't she look just a little bit like our nurse Syster Elisabet and her dotter Amanda?
Time for Allsång while the restaurang closes and the stage for the Talanguppvisning (talent show) is set up!
We had so much fun doing our line dances we learned for I-Day just a week ago.

Välkomna till talanguppvisning!

ABBA var här!

Vilgot spelade piano.
Sten and Iris performed a song from Wicked.
Ursula did stand-up comedy!
Ruttger played the dragspel.

Dagmar and Iris sang beautifully.

Dagmar and Åsa performed a modern version of Här kommer Pippi Långstrump.

Maja and Emilia combined talents to perform two hilarious sketches. This was Kikkis Aerobics Class.

The next was Liv's date!

Martin, Gustava, and Liv's språkgrupp did a little play.

The credit boys, Sebbe, Robban, Mattias, and Leif, are getting ready for their sketch--the grand finale of the talanguppvisning. Tack to Stefan for being the videographer.

The commentators got the crowd excited to see Leif wrestle. What anticipation! Whom would Leif be wrestling?
Oh, nej! It's Mattias the björn! This was to be a björn wrestling match!

Mattias was tough, but Leif segrade!

Pippi säger, "Det var en härlig dag på Sjölunden!"

Pippi says, "What a great day at Sjölunden!"
