Sjölunden Meets the Challenge
In 2005, Concordia Language Villages began construction of a culturally authentic Village for the Swedish Language Village to ensure that Sjölunden villagers for generations to come have the facilities they need to learn, love, and enjoy the Swedish language.
To date, $2.5 million has been secured toward a campaign total of $3.4 million, including a $1 million pledge from the Comstock Land Company of Fargo, N.D. to construct the dining hall.

The Raymond and Florence Berglund Family Foundation has granted us a $455,000 challenge grant to encourage giving by friends of Sjölunden. This challenge grant is a one-for-one match of other dollars raised and must be completed by December 31, 2011.
The Raymond and Florence Berglund Family Foundation was established in 2004 in St. Paul, Minn. Preserving their family's Swedish heritage is one of the Foundation's priorities. This Foundation has made gifts and pledges totaling $1 million to Sjölunden, including this recent challenge grant.
The Village
The intimate atmosphere of a Swedish coastal fishing village near Småland Sweden inspired the architectural design of Sjölunden. Sjölunden joins six other culturally authentic Villages situated on an 875-acre tract of land on Turtle River Lake near Bemidji, Minn.
