Be it the curriculum design and delivery principles that shape all of the Language Villages programs, or what we take from andragogy, the adult equivalent to pedagogy, the adult language and culture immersion sessions at the Villages are built on a solid educational foundation. Learners shape their own learning supported by a need to speak the target language, an authentic setting, a supportive learning community, and program staff who understand the full spectrum of learners' skill levels, learning styles and motivation.

By this, we don't only refer to the authentic architectural setting for most of our programs, the culturally authentic food, genuine program support materials, or access to native speakers. Authenticity in adult programs also is enhanced when learners themselves share their own related life experiences: learning is processed in the context of life experiences; therefore experience is the learner's living textbook. At Concordia Language Villages, we live the language 24/7, an experience all in itself.

From the pre-program language skill survey to small language learning groups, to almost limitless access to program staff and instructors, each individual helps direct the focus, the intensity, and the outcomes of their own learning. The design of the programs and the goal of the program staff provide opportunities for success for each learner, no matter their skill level, their background, or their outcome objectives.
