Korean Youth
Welcome to Sup sogŭi Hosu!
Immersed in the sights, sounds, and flavors of the Korean-speaking world, you’ll feel like you’re taking a trip to Korea, but with one big advantage: you’ll have the benefit of friendly, supportive counselors who are eager to help you learn and discover on every step of your journey.
Once you’ve gone through customs at Sup sogŭi Hosu, chosen a new Korean name, and checked in with the site nurse, your counselors will help you take your things to your cabin. You’ll be living in a comfortable pine log cabin with staff members and between six and 13 other villagers and who are all about your age. You’ll have your own bunk for your sleeping bag and pillow, as well as a place to store your clothes and other belongings.
As a “villager” at Sup sogŭi Hosu, you’ll soon be saying 잘 잤어요? (Did you sleep well?) and heading off to 아침식사 (breakfast) with your new friends. Your counselors, who come from Korea, Canada and the United States, will be with you from morning until evening.
Our goal is to provide an environment in which you find the courage and confidence to explore Korean language and culture. We will use gestures, repetition, songs, and games to make sure you know what to do, where to go, and what’s going on from the moment you arrive. And, with constant help and support from our dedicated staff, you’ll be amazed by how quickly you learn — even if you are brand new to the Korean language.
Sup sogŭi Hosu has a relaxed atmosphere. You won’t need much more than shorts, t-shirts, a swimsuit, long pants, and warm sweatshirts. You’ll have the opportunity to dress up for a few events and also try on a hanbok (a traditional Korean costume).
