Terhi Savo-Helske
Terhi Savo-Helske studied at the Turku Conservatory with Hannu Lehtinen and graduated in 1992. She has taken part in master classes run by Andras Adorjan, Aurele Nicolet, Michael Faust and Mikael Helasvuo.She has worked as a flutist in the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and the Mikkeli City Orchestra. She also is an active chamber musician, currently she is a member of the Mikkeli Chamber Trio and also performs widely with guitarist Esa Hakkarainen. As a soloist she has played with the orchestras of Turku and Mikkeli. In 2005 she also was the soloist in a first performance of “Chamber Symphony” by a young finnish composer Aki Yli-Salomäki.
Since 1992 she has been the principal flute teacher at the Music Institute of Mikkeli. She is a tutor for different kinds of wind groups, some of which have succeeded in various competitions.
Terhi thinks that playing together is essential for the young players and she tries to find them many possibilities to perform. In her work she uses different styles of music, which helps every pupil to find something they love to play.
