German Scholarship Opportunities

We offer a variety of scholarship opportunities to attend a summer session at Waldsee.

Max Kade Foundation Scholarships: The Max Kade Foundation offers partial scholarship funds to help young people interested in attending a 4 week high school credit session at Waldsee.

Maryland/DC Metro Area AATG Waldsee Scholarships: The Maryland/Washington DC Metro chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German awards scholarship funds to promising students to study German, including at Waldsee

Minnesota AATG Annual German Contest Winner: Waldsee offers scholarship funds covering one-half of a 4 week high school credit session to the winner of this annual state-wide contest. Open to participants in the annual Minnesota AATG German Contest, which is conducted by the Minnesota chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG).

National German Essay Contest Winners: Each year German students across the country are invited to participate in a German essay contest; winners are given scholarship funds to come to Waldsee. The contest is sponsored by Germany's Central Agency for Schools Abroad/Zentralstelle für das Auslandsschulwesen.

Raer Family Foundation Scholarships: Scholarship funds are available for residents of the Fargo-Moorhead region. The funds are awarded to promising German students by teachers in the Fargo-Moorhead schools system.

Bill and Norma Schleppegrell Endowed Scholarship: This is a need-based scholarship available to children of former Concordia Language Villages staff.

Teacher German Resource Scholarships: Selected German teachers in Minnesota, Wisconsin and other states are offered the opportunity to provide students in their schools and regions with full or partial scholarships to Waldsee. Waldsee wants to work together with German teachers across the country to promote German. Interested teachers should contact Concordia Language Villages.

Twin Cities German Immersion School Auction Scholarship: A partial scholarship to Waldsee is awarded as part of a silent auction to benefit the Twin Cities German Immersion School: www.germanschool-mn.org.

Wisconsin German Day Scholarship Award: Each spring German students in the state of Wisconsin gather at the University of Wisconsin for a fun day of German skits, games, and contests. Waldsee provides scholarship funds to selected participants in the Wisconsin German Day activities.

German-American Chamber of Commerce, Minnesota Chapter Scholarships:  Minnesota high school students who demonstrate their interest and ability in the German language (vocabulary, grammar, and spelling) and participate in a German Essay Writing Contest are eligible to receive scholarships of up to $1,000 to further their study of German, including at Waldsee. The student's award will mean an equal dollar amount awarded to the winning student's German Department! Entries must be received by February 3, 2012. Holly Hamill Endowed Scholarship: This is a full need-based scholarship for a girl to attend Waldsee; use the Passport Fund application.

Wendy and Meic Schmidt Scholarship: This scholarship is available to a Utah resident, and provides $1,500 toward attendance at Waldsee. Please indicate your interest on the Passport fund application.
