1. Where are the Teacher Seminars held?
The seminars are held on the campus of Bemidji State University, Bemidji, Minnesota. Bemidji is located 241 miles north of Minneapolis, 151 miles east of the Fargo/Moorhead area. Delta Airlines flies into Bemidji.
Visit the Bemidji Chamber of Commerce Web site for information about the area.
2. Do you have to be a current world language teacher in order to enroll in the Teacher Seminars course?
It is not a requirement to be currently teaching; however, the course will be especially meaningful if you are currently teaching or have taught in the past. Current and past classroom experiences give you a frame of reference for discussions and assignments.
3. Are the seminars conducted in English?
Yes, the seminars attract teachers of all world languages so the classes are conducted in English. During your stay in Bemidji, you will spend time at the Language Villages, located 10 miles outside of Bemidji, where you will have the opportunity to interact in the languages you speak. Transportation will be provided for these visits.
4. What is the deadline for applying to the Teacher Seminars?
Applications will be accepted until May 1; after May 1, applications will be accepted on a space-available basis. Email educators@cord.edu for the status of your application.
