Master of Education in World Language Instruction

When you enroll in the Master of Education in World Language Instruction program, you'll enjoy an innovative mix of online learning and on-site classes and observations at Concordia Language Villages in Bemidji, Minnesota. Combining theory with practice, you will "live the Language Villages experience" and find new ways to make language come alive for your students.
As members of a cohort, program participants will form a learning community providing support to each other throughout the program. You will share ideas, ask questions and discuss relevant issues and concerns in second language teaching and learning.
The effective use of technology is woven into the program of study to help familiarize you with how young people are processing and sharing information today. You will not only learn about current technology, but will use it to complete the online portion of the program during the academic year, in keeping with the Language Villages' philosophy of learning by doing.
The Master of Education Program is designed for working teachers like you, with coursework spanning two summers. The summer coursework takes place during the month of July at Concordia Language Villages' sites on Turtle River Lake. During the academic year between the two summers, an online course each semester will engage you in using technology effectively to create multimedia learning experiences for your classrooms. The final component of the program is an independent research thesis supported by an online seminar. This thesis and seminar experience will be facilitated by the faculty of the Master of Education program. The thesis and online seminar take place during the fall semester following the second summer of coursework.
The Master of Education in World Language Instruction program is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, a commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
