Learn a Language, Learn the World
Learn strategies and activities to bring a global perspective to the world language classroom. Activities are designed to help students make comparisons and connections as they learn more about the countries of the world.
On Target: Keeping Students in the Target Language
Maximize the use of the target language by both teachers and students in the world language classroom. Starting with "survivor phrases" to meet routine classroom needs, discuss the importance of context in making the target language comprehensible.
Empowering Students via Goal-setting and Self-assessment
Help your students set personal goals and learn how to coach students to chart and monitor their progress towards achieving these goals. Using the Concordia Language Visa (CLVisa) as a guide, learn how to connect your curriculum to goal statements of what students should know and be able to do.
Cultural intelligence means knowing how to interact with people from different cultures respectfully and according to their customs. In order to interact, knowledge of the language is essential. Learn strategies that build cultural intelligence among your students.
Incorporating Environmental Studies into the German classroom
The super energy-efficient BioHaus Environmental Living Center at the Turtle River Lake site of Concordia Language Villages, and the nature trails surrounding Waldsee will provide inspiration for teachers to develop lesson plans incorporating German environmentalism into their curriculum.
