Language Villages Instructor Receives Teacher of the Year Award

MamboAwardConcordia Language Villages congratulates Bernard Mambo, chair of the foreign language department and instructor of French & ESL at St. John’s Catholic Preparatory School in Frederick, Maryland, for receiving the 2008 Baltimore Division of Catholic Schools Teacher of the Year award. “The Award Banquet was a lovely event,” said Mambo. “I was very impressed to see teachers honored for 30, 40, 50 and even 60 years of service.”

Bernard is also an instructor for the joint Concordia College-Concordia Language Villages Master of Education in World Language Instruction program. This year he will teach "Motivating Students via Technology." Bernard’s history with the Language Villages includes 8 years on staff at Lac du Bois. He served as counselor, credit teacher, and credit facilitator.  Mambo earned his doctorate degree in curriculum and instruction with a specialization in ‎educational computing, design and online learning at Kansas State University. His dissertation focused on the integration of technology into the foreign language classroom.
