Michael Volz
Michael Zhang Maike Volz is the dean of Sēn Lín Hú, the Chinese Language Village (first half). Zhang Maike has worked with Concordia Language Villages in multiple capacities beginning as a counselor for Sēn Lín Hú in 2001, as the dean of the Chinese Global Mission Village 2002-2003, and as the dean of the English Global Language Village in Zhuhai, China 2004.
Maike earned a M.Ed. in teaching Second Languages and Cultures from the University of Minnesota in 1999, and an MA in East Asian Studies with a focus in the Chinese Language from Stanford in 2005. Since his first study abroad experience in China in 1989, Maike has returned to China ten times as a student or teacher, including two years spent teaching at a college in Sichuan province, China. As part of his current responsibilities he has also developed and leads a summer study abroad program to China. He has had 18 years of experience teaching languages (ESL or Chinese) at the elementary, high school and college levels and is currently serving as the program coordinator and as a language instructor for the Chinese Program at the University of Missouri.
