Ward Ryder
Ward Detlef Ryder is the dean of German Study Abroad. Ryder has a 15 year history of involvement at Waldsee, Concordia Language Villages' German Language Village, as a two-week villager, credit villager, counselor, and credit teacher.
Ryder received his BA in English and German from Bradley University, and his MAT TESOL from Georgetown University. He was a Youth for Understanding exchange student near Oldenburg during high school, studied at the University of Vienna for one year during college, and received a Fulbright Scholarship to teach at Cecilien Gymnasium in Düsseldorf.
Ryder teaches at Kenmore Middle School in Arlington, VA. Prior to beginning his position as dean of German Study Abroad, Ryder led the Märchenwald Credit Program, Waldsee's credit program focusing on theater and medieval culture.
