Elise Peters

Elise Viktoria Peters is a long-time Sjölunden supporter starting as a camper in the 1980's, followed by many years on summer staff. She is now pleased to be involved with the adult programs as program leader for the Swedish Elderhostel and the Swedish Adult Weekend.

Elise has spent many years in Sweden and feels just as home in Sweden as well as here in the United States. During 2008, she spent nearly four months living and working in Karlstad, Sweden. It can be quite confusing when she talks about home...does she mean Sweden? Or Minneapolis? Or Chicago?

She graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College with a degree in Scandinavian Studies and History. Currently, Elise is the Executive Director of the Swedish Council of America. In her free time, Elise enjoys folk dancing and playing the nyckelharpa. She is active in the Scandinavian community in the Twin Cities.
