Paul Magnuson

Paul MagnusonPaul Magnuson’s connection with Concordia Language Village’s began at Waldsee in 1988. Drawing upon his experience at Waldsee and his passion for language learning, Paul directed the Language Villages' first venture into English immersion language learning at Hometown, USA. He was also the first dean of Hometown, Europe, and is now in the unique position of taking over the leadership of the Village which he was instrumental in founding.

Paul’s involvement with Concordia Language Villages includes a list of notable firsts — he was also the first assistant director for public relations.

Magnuson received his B.A. in Philosophy and Music at St. Olaf College. He earned a M.A. TESOL from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction in Second Languages and Cultures from the University of Minnesota.

Paul has taught in a variety of academic settings, ranging from the Minnesota Waldorf School to Hamline University and the University of Minnesota. He has consulted on language curriculum and instruction for both public and private educational organizations.

Paul and family currently live in Leysin, Switzerland.
