Laura Dehler-Seter
Laura Dehler-Seter has been on staff at Concordia Language Villages for 16 years, and began as dean of the English Language Village, Hometown, USA, in the summer of 2007. She is fluent in English and German and together with her German husband, she is raising their children bi-lingually.
Dehler-Seter graduated from the University of Madison, Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education. She earned her Master of Arts in teaching from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vt.
Dehler-Seter has traveled to Europe, Asia, and South America. She has led bike tours abroad, groups of high school students on cultural study trips across the U.S., and has led and assisted in the development of Waldsee's outdoor/environmental German Language program, die Grüne Welle. Dehler-Seter recently co-authored a book, Natur! Bringing Nature and the Environment into German Language Classrooms, with Edwin Dehler-Seter. Prior to her leadership at Hometown, USA, Dehler-Seter served as dean of Hometown, Europe in 2005. Dehler-Seter taught ESL for fifteen years and served one year as interim chair of the ESL department at Northfield Mount Hermon School in Northfield, Mass. Currently, Dehler-Seter teaches public speaking at Bemidji State University.
