Erik Brakstad

Erik Rick Brakstad is dean of the English Language Village, Hometown, Europe. He was on staff at Concordia Language Villages’ Norwegian Language Village, Skogfjorden, for six years. He is fluent in Norwegian and has studied German.

Rick earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Reed College in Portland, Oregon. He has also studied at Follo Folkehøyskole in Vestby, Norway.

Rick directed Camp Nidaros, a Norwegian language camp in Seaside, Oregon, and Camp Normanna in Arlington, Washington. He has been a language instructor for three years at Camp Norway, a summer program for Americans in Sandane, Norway. He is currently a building contractor in Portland, Oregon, specializing in environmentally responsible construction.
