Waldsee began again yesterday with a new group of one- and two-weekers. After going through the Grenze (boarder), meeting their new Haus (cabin), and eating Abendessen (dinner), villagers participated in a historical Abendprogramm (evening program). Waldsee got colorful with tonight’s Abendprogramm!
Villagers had an opportunity this week to try out the Sinnespfad (sensory adventure course). The villagers went through a course in the woods while not being able to use their Gesichtssin (eyesight). They had to rely on their other senses, for example touch or hearing. The villagers walked barefoot through a course with different textures on the ground, such as rocks or sticks. They also had to rely on their partner to tell them when they were getting off...
Even Waldsee celebrated International Ice cream Day!
The night before our last day in Waldsee, we put on a Talentabend to show off the best of what Waldsee has to offer.
Last night, the villagers learned about German politics in the time when Germany was split in two.
Our medieval theater program, Märchenwald, has been putting on performances all week and one of our Lehrling wrote about the experience.
Two of our Lehrling helped us with our Abendprogramm yesterday, which followed the opera Die Zauberflöte.
Yesterday saw a resounding win for the United States at the women’s FIFA World Cup, and we played Fußball all day long leading up to the game.

Tonight, our villagers played what seemed to be a simple Kartenspiel, or card game, but it quickly became apparent that this was not the case.

Last night the campers participated in a camp-wide traditional boar hunt, where the Betreuer were the boars!
On Mittwoch we skipped our usual family-style meal indoors in favour of Bratwurst and Döner outdoors in the style of a traditional German Straßenfest!
Today in Gesang we learned a spooky song called Finster, Finster to match the weather outside.
Even the rain couldn’t stop our fun last night! We had a Grand Pix der Märchen with different fairytale characters visiting each Haus and telling them who they were.
At our first Gesang of the session, we learned a song written by a Waldsee Betreuer about pigs and how they make excellent companions.
Our main two-week and four-week sessions are about to begin today and we couldn’t be more excited!
