Today was the last full day for the one-week and two-week villagers. The schedule was a little different, as we celebrated the time we spent here at Waldsee. After our second Gesprächsgruppestunde (language learning hour), everyone headed to the Fußballplatz (soccer field) for the Betreuer gegen Kinder Fußballspiel (counselor vs. camper soccer game). This year, the villagers won! We then got ready for the rest of the night....
Last night we celebrated the Europameisterschaft by having a Straßenfest!
Our very first Abenteuerprogramm goes on a camping trip!
Tonight we heard the story of Wilhelm Tell and played a game along with it!
The Lehrlinge (apprentices) describe an evening program.
A bit of what we did on Wednesday!
Read about what our credit villagers are learning in their daily classes!
Waldsee got colorful with tonight’s Abendprogramm!
Villagers had an opportunity this week to try out the Sinnespfad (sensory adventure course). The villagers went through a course in the woods while not being able to use their Gesichtssin (eyesight). They had to rely on their other senses, for example touch or hearing. The villagers walked barefoot through a course with different textures on the ground, such as rocks or sticks. They also had to rely on their partner to tell them when they were getting off...
Even Waldsee celebrated International Ice cream Day!
Missed our closing program for the GB22 and GB31 session? No problem! Watch the video here.
Our last day was jam-packed with fun, from our last class of the day, to our disco that night.
The villagers at Waldsee have the opportunity to get a prize if they speak German all day long in a program called Sprachmeister.
Asterix und Obelix, a French children’s comic that is very popular in Germany, came to Waldsee for a little bit of help.
Our song of the day today is Die Gedanken Sind Frei, a song about the freedom of thought. The lyrics are even inscribed above the doors of our clinic, Heilbronn.
This Sonntag we all slept in a little later than usual and after brunch enjoyed a day in a few other countries.
Our song of the day today is one of the oldest we learn here at Waldsee! Wie Schön talks about a Mädchen that a young man has fallen for and he sings of her beauty.
The villagers learned how to tell time as well as speak on the telephone this Saturday as Waldsee hosted a restaurant in our Gasthoff.
The weather wasn’t looking so great, so we had Gesang inside today! Check out the video of the song we learned this morning, Küssen Verboten by Die Prinzen.
Last night the campers participated in a camp-wide traditional boar hunt, where the Betreuer were the boars!
On Mittwoch we skipped our usual family-style meal indoors in favour of Bratwurst and Döner outdoors in the style of a traditional German Straßenfest!
Today in Gesang we learned a spooky song called Finster, Finster to match the weather outside.
Even the rain couldn’t stop our fun last night! We had a Grand Pix der Märchen with different fairytale characters visiting each Haus and telling them who they were.
At our first Gesang of the session, we learned a song written by a Waldsee Betreuer about pigs and how they make excellent companions.
Our main two-week and four-week sessions are about to begin today and we couldn’t be more excited!
