Die Familien Kommen An!

Yesterday was yet another Ankunftstag (arrival day) here in Waldsee. But this time, things were a little bit different. Instead of dropping their kids off for the week, many of the parents decided to stay for Familienwoche (family week)!

Sommer 2017 is fast approaching and we are getting more excited every day! We are always begeistert (excited), but even more so when families decide to try out our Familienwoche (family week)! Many families are nervous or unsure – it’s a new environment for their kids, and it can be difficult to learn a new language as an adult. But take it from a family that has been coming to Familienwohe for sechs (six) years – take the plunge!

A bunte (colorful) Evening

"Color" was the key word for yesterday’s Fest der Farben (festival of colors)! Instead of eating in the Gasthof (inn) as we usually do, there was a Straßenfest (street festival) on the Marktplatz (market place)! Villagers were able to go to various stalls and get foods like Döner and Currywurst but were also able to play games and get their faces painted. But that wasn’t all! Following the festival, everyone received white t-shirts and headed down...

Wildsaujagd and Sinnenpfad!

Villagers had an opportunity this week to try out the Sinnespfad (sensory adventure course). The villagers went through a course in the woods while not being able to use their Gesichtssin (eyesight). They had to rely on their other senses, for example touch or hearing. The villagers walked barefoot through a course with different textures on the ground, such as rocks or sticks. They also had to rely on their partner to tell them when they were getting off...

Family week begins!

Yesterday we welcomed the latest round of villagers to Waldsee, and this week that includes entire families! During Family Week everyone in the family has a chance to participate in life at Waldsee, which includes meals in the Gasthof, singing and dancing at Gesang, participating in activities such as painting and playing soccer, and, of course, learning German! All the new villagers had time in the evening to meet their new housemates and counselors, and after dinner we circled...
