Karneval der Kulturen
Published: August 23, 2017
Last night we celebrated the Karneval der Kulturen! In the real world, Karneval der Kulturen is a celebration of different cultures in Kreuzberg, Berlin. Because it’s located in Berlin, we tried to get as close to that as possible and held the Fest in our Mauerpark (wall park) which is based off of the Berlin Wall.
Each group of campers was given a German-speaking country to represent. The Ts (one weekers) were Österreich (Austria), the KTs (two weekers) were die Schweiz (Switzerland), the LKTs and Lehrlinge (four weekers) were Lichtenstein, and the Familien (families) were Deutschland (Germany). Each group danced a Tanz (dance) for the rest of the group.
There was also plenty of delicious Essen (food) for Abendessen (dinner). Some of the options included Crepes, Currywurst, Guacamole, and Obst (fruit).
We danced, ate, and played Spiele (games) all through the evening. When it was too dark to see anymore, we finally went to bed.
