High School Credit Abroad in Austria
Published: January 29, 2019
Two weeks at Waldsee not enough? Join us this summer for our LKÜ (Leistungskurs Übersee) high school credit abroad program! Campers earn a year of high school credit in four weeks split between Waldsee and Österreich (Austria)!
At Waldsee, LKÜ campers participate in two weeks of the LKT Klassisch (classic) program and prepare for their trip abroad. Campers have class time three times a day and participate in different Arbeitsgruppen (working groups) such as Fechten (fencing), Kunst (art), or even Gebärdensprache (German sign language)!
At the end of the first two weeks, campers will fly along with our Waldsee Credit Abroad teachers from Minneapolis to Munich, where they will then travel on to Salzburg and stay with a host family for a week! In Salzburg, campers will explore the history of the city with excursions to places such as Mozarts Geburtshaus (the house Mozart was born in) and experience the outdoors with excursion to a high ropes course and a summer toboggan run!
In the last week of the program, campers will travel and stay with host families in Wien (Vienna)! Campers will experience the rich history and culture of Wien through excursions to places such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera House), the Hofburg Palace, the Haus der Musik (House of Music), and the many museums of Wien! Campers will learn about famous influential inhabitants of Wien such as Mozart, Gustav Klimt, and Kaiserin (Empress) Sissi.
Just like at Waldsee, campers will have daily German instruction from our Credit Abroad teachers to make the most out of their stay!
LKÜ campers will have a four-week German immersion experience like no other and will truly Live the Language! Applications are due February 15th here, and scholarships are available through February 20th here.
