Grand Prix des Hausspiel

Published: August 24, 2017

Last night, we played two of our favourite Abendprogramme (evening programs) here in Waldsee: Grand Prix der Lieder (Grand Prix of Songs) and das Hausspiel (the House Game).

For Grand Prix der Lieder, each Haus (house) was assigned a Waldsee Lied (Waldsee song) and a Styl (such as rap, boy band, or Gregorian chant) which they had to perform it in. They had a half an hour to prepare and then they performed what they came up with. Some of our favorites were Haus Kiel’s interpretive dance of Roter Mond (red moon) and the Lehrlinge’s (apprentice’s) Zuerst Each Vorne (First Forwards) Gergorian chant. Everything was so hilarious!

After everyone had performed in the Grand Prix der Lieder we switched gears and played the Hausspiel (house game). Based off of the Newleyweds Game, this competition tests which house knows their Betreuer (counselor) the best with questions like: “What brand of shampoo do they use?” and “Who are they in love with?”. In the end, Haus Heidelberg and Haus Berlin were tied - but because Waldsee decided that they liked Haus Heidelberg’s performance during Grand Prix der Lieder the best, they were the ones who won!
