Alumni Spotlight: Frieda
Published: April 2, 2020
As we gear up for the 60th summer at Waldsee, get to know some long-time members of the Waldsee community! This week, meet Frieda! Frieda first came to Waldsee as a camper in 2004, and she has played a number of important roles each and every summer. She is best known for her skills in the Büro as business manager and the excitement she brings leading Gesang (song hour) and Märchenwald (middle ages program).
How did you find out about Waldsee?
Concordia Language Villages was recommended to my parents for me and my brother.
What made you come back to Waldsee year after year?
Waldsee has always been my second home. Year after year, the community has been and will be there for me. Not to mention the Schoggifondue (chocolate fondue) on Ankunftstag (arrival day)!!
What do you look forward to the most each year?
I love coming back to see old friends and practice my German. It’s always nice to be back in Waldsee to be Frieda for a few weeks!
What's something that's different now than your first year at Waldsee?
During my first couple of years, I watched the Biohaus being built. It’s now a central part of daily life and I can’t imagine Waldsee without it!
What's your favorite Waldsee Lied (song)?
Waldsee-Lied (Wenn Blumen wieder sprießen) and Ackerwinde
Best snack at Cafe Einbeck?
Ritter Sport Knusperflakes. Best. Chocolate. Ever.
Sonst noch was? (Anything else?)
My favorite Abendprogramm (evening program) is the Wildsaujagd (wild sow hunt) - who doesn’t love running around and throwing sponges at each other??
Meet Frieda and other members of the Waldsee community from throughout the years at our 60th Anniversary Alumni Weekend, July 17-19!
