Den 2. juli

Tuesday was the first full day of programming for our new one and two week villagers. We woke up, raised the flag, and ate breakfast as usual. After hytterengøring (cabin cleaning), the one and two week villagers headed to storgruppe (big group), and the videregående (4 week credit villagers) went to Skovly with Jacob. For the remainder of the morning, the one and two week villagers participated in roteringsgrupper (rotating groups), where we focus on learning Danish through games, songs, and more formal lesssons.

For lunch we had smørrebrød (open faced sandwiches). Lunch was followed by middagslur (midday nap). After everyone woke up, we headed to sport and svømning (swimming). For håndarbejde (arts and crafts) we signed up for events at I Dag (international day, on Friday). The videregående went to their eftermiddagsundervisning (afternoon lessons).

That evening, the program was familieolympiaden! The Family Olympics are a camp favorite, with events such as togtrækning (tug o war), trebenedeløb (three legged race), and æggeløb (egg race). In our family groups, we competed for the title and honor of winning first place! The evening ended with the aftensalme (evening song).
